What is Top Dog Trading? Top Dog Trading is what I would consider to be a “legacy” trading educator. These are trading educators that have been around for at least 10 years. The owner of Top Dog Trading is a guy by the name Dr. Barry Burns. Top Dog Trading is one of the more seasoned educators on the trading educational guru scene. He can often be found giving investment advise on Online Traders Central, involved in many co-promotions with other long time trading educators, is listed as an “expert” and a “master trader” on many promotional websites like Trader Kingdom, and he even has a book titled, “Trend Trading for Dummies“. The Top Dog Trading educational package includes the following items:
Foundation Course #1: Precision Trading Cycle Tops and Bottoms $297, Foundation Course #1 and #2 Momentum and Catching the Big Moves $495 for both. In addition to the video course, Barry is also offering a $99 a month video package. The video package includes three special videos each week that give you secret insights into how the markets are currently moving in relation to the Top Dog Trading course.
On the first week of January 2016, I made several attempts to reach out to Dr. Barry Burns. Using an alias, what I really wanted to discover was whether Dr. Barry Burns is really a trader, or is he just another internet marketer selling a bunch of rehashed technical indicators to the naive and uninformed. The first and most obvious question that I had for Barry is what is his own individual trading performance? Does he have a track record? Nowhere on his website is any mention of trading performance. He simply refers to himself as an international expert trader, master trader, or highly acclaimed expert trader . After repeated attempts to discover just how well Barry trades, he finally started ignoring my requests. Next, I used different aliases and came at him at different angles and postures. Once again, he blew me off. Finally, on February 15, I revealed myself as Emmett Moore with TradingSchools.Org and explained to him in very clear language that this review would be read by thousands of people. That he should be completely open and honest with me about his own personal trading, and to please disclose his own individual trading performance. In a nutshell, should this guy be giving investment advice to the masses?
Of course, Dr. Barry Burns simply refused to provide any performance history whatsoever. He is of the attitude that by showing me his trading results, that this is somehow illegal and that he might get into some sort of trouble. Of course, this is a pure hogwash/baloney sandwich and there is no law or rule that says that a private party cannot show another private their trading performance. It is true that he may have concerns about privacy, however he can simply redact an annualized trading account statement and screen share it with me. By viewing a redacted brokerage statement, I can go back to my audience and declare that this guy is real. But with Dr. Barry Burns, that wasn’t happening. He is of the attitude that people must simply trust him and hope that he is telling the truth. But he did assure me that he is indeed a true master trader, and that he was considering joining a trading competition so that the world can witness his greatness. He also directed me to his testimonials page where I could see with my own eyes just how emphatic his students feel about his trading.
The websites of Dr. Barry Burns
One of the things that I like to look at is the marketing tactics of a trading vendor. Some of these trading vendors have dozens of different websites offering all manner of trading wisdom. Dr. Barry Burns is certainly part of this class of promoter. Dr. Barry Burns currently maintains the following websites: TopDogTrading.com, DayTradingCoach.org, BestDayTrading.net, HighProfitCandlestickPatterns.com, StockMarketDojo.com, TopDogTradingVideos.com, TradingSuccessStory.com, FibonacciRetracement.net, HowToTrade.Org and whole host of other websites that would take three afternoons to list. In addition to the individual websites that Barry uses to promote his day trading awesomeness, he also maintains a YouTube channel which has a healthy audience, eager to hear his trading wisdom.
It appears that Dr. Barry Burns main ambition and marketing tactic is to appeal to the opportunity seeker, or the person looking to make easy money at home from a computer. At no time does he ever offer any proof that he has ever traded successfully. This appears to be all marketing magic. The more I looked at all of these trading websites, my intuition was that this guy is probably a career network marketer/pyramid hustler.
There are a lot of parallels between network marketing, pyramid marketing schemes and day trading. In fact, many of the trading educators on the scene today have a long history selling magic oils and potions from a network marketing scheme. Dr. Barry Burns is certainly no exception.

As seen on CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, and lives in a Castle? Sounds like a fairy tale.
In addition to being able to teach a person how to become a full time professional day trader, Dr. Barry Burns can also can teach a person how to make big bucks at MLM or Multi Level Marketing. Some of the his websites are quite interesting: MLMBlitz.com, and MlmNetworkMarketingLeads.com where Barry reveals how to earn over $100k per year, part time from home. He also claims to be multimillionaire from network marketing.
In addition to MLM websites, Dr. Barry Burns also maintains EffectiveMLM.com where he claims to currently earn two, six figure annual incomes working from his castle in Los Angeles Ca. Using an alias, I sent Barry an email about his various and many multi level marketing opportunities. I was really curious about his claims of living in a castle in Los Angeles. That sounded interesting and I was hoping for some proof of the castle and the multiple six figure incomes, but he simply refused my requests. Really, I just wanted to see his castle.

Perhaps you are not interested in Barry’s magical trading methods? Well no problem because the good doctor has a whole variety of other 
amazing products that apparently can cure just about any illness. Lets take a look at some of Barry’s magical medicinal’s. Having a problem with coronary artery disease, cancer, respiratory disorders, accidental injuries, cirrhosis of the liver, and suicide? Well Barry has a magical oil named SunSet that contains a special variety of roots and herbs that can help cure all of these conditions. A person can either eat the magical oil, or rub the oil into any problem areas. All problems promptly solved.

Dr Barry Burns: Doctor of what?
Whenever a trading educator starts using the moniker, “Doctor or PhD” the bullshit meter starts bouncing in the red zone. In the past year of writing this blog, I have yet to find a doctor/trading educator with authentic credentials from an accredited university. However, I have found plenty of mail order PhD’s and bullshit fakers with every sort of outrageous credentials. With Dr. Barry Burns, it appears that he is PhD is of the mail order variety.
Dr. Barry Burns claims to hold a Doctorate in Hypnotherapy and is a certified Nuero Linguistic Practitioner. I was really curious about this Doctorate in Hypnotherapy and so I Google searched, in hopes of finding out what it takes to get one of these PhD’s. It turns out that anyone can get this PhD. All you need is couple of hundred dollars and a mailing address for your official looking diploma. There is no prerequisite or undergrad degree requirements. The whole degree is based upon your life experiences and self reported successes.
Personally, I find these diploma mills outrageous and egregious frauds. And I find it even more outrageous that someone like “Dr” Barry Burns calls himself a doctor and is selling magic oils that supposedly can cure just about every know ailment known to mankind. So what does all of this have to do with Dr. Barry Burns day trading educational courses?
In my opinion, looking at the big picture of Dr. Barry Burns, this guy appears to a complete and total charlatan. He claims to be a master trader and highly successful, yet he is unwilling to show any proof whatsoever. He has a long history of selling some seriously shady products in the charlatan infested MLM/Pyramid marketing industry. And, he prefers that everyone call him Doctor Barry Burns, when in reality this PhD in hypnosis is of highly dubious origin. How anyone could give this guy a nickel for health advice, or financial advice is simply amazing.
Oh, and lets not forget that he claims to live in a Castle. A Castle in Los Angeles, Ca? This sure sounds like a fairy tale to me.

Thanks for reading this review. I think most of my readers certainly did not need this review in order to make an educated guess on this dude. Its obvious to me that this guy is a really creative marketer. However, the more I dug around and discovered his amazing health products, it just made me laugh and I could not resist writing about him. In the zany, wacky world of trading educators, this Barry Burns is certainly one of the more colorful characters.
Oh, and Barry, when you read this. I would be more than happy to write you a new review. But you need to provide some evidence that you actually trade. Heck, you dont even need to be very good at trading! Give me something that I can see, in a private viewing. I will gladly come back to the audience, eat humble pie, and proclaim your greatness to the world.

More shill comments in the last few years, or by Barry himself. Anyone close to getting suckered. I got his course over ten years ago as my first course, and it never worked, was full of bshit. He doesn’t even trade, and had occasional crappy videos of pretend trading with little to no audience just “scratching” all the time.
He should be close to “retirement” now, or rather SSDI if he even paid taxes. So anyone considering, realize this shamshow charlatan and fraud has been doing this since the web got going from baud with html 1.0 days. And he had to move from Thousand Oaks to Sherman Oaks. Does that sound like a wealthy from trading sizing up move? nah, sizing down as his traducation fraud snakeoil business has long been marginalized by the competition on the web. Got a new revamp of this website now, probably the last vestiges of investment to make it look modernized, but realize it’s all the same crap course. And he got caught trying to ripoff Al Brook’s first book into an ‘advanced price action” new course, and probably got a desist from them (Brooks and his website manager).
If you’re a newb. Don’t get his course or waste time with his regurgitated stuff that doesn’t work, and that he doesn’t even trade. Let “top”dog go the way of TradersHelp!Desk and close and fade from the web like Ms. Mercer did where she finally had to face up to her years of fraud selling of useless indicators in her “helpdesk” of nothing but an snakeoil indicator shop.
I am not sure I entirely agree with you here. There are some valid questions you are perhaps right to pose, such as the lack of a published trading record, but I can only speak as someone who has gone through the foundation courses he produced. On these I can say that there is a clear and well-thought-out methodology for trading price movement. Barry also demonstrates his methodology in several accompanying videos in which there are losing and winning trades.
If Barry is a charlatan he most likely would have not spent the amount of time he clearly has in putting together a very thorough trading course – which in my view must have taken him years in both acquiring the knowledge and then in putting the course material together – so a student can fully understand his methodology. The methodology is not simple and introduces 5 important concepts which are slowly expounded and built upon with examples. They are finally put together in a single framework which becomes a blueprint for trading price action. There is a very detailed and clear-thinking individual behind this material, not someone out to make a fast buck (imho).
As a trader for over 20 plus years I can say that his methods are at least a strong foundational for becoming a profitable trader; the student then has to put in the practice hours and learn how to master the emotional side of trading to ensure the methods ultimately bare fruit. Or they can take aspects of what he teaches and introduce them into their own trading approach as I am sure many others including myself have done.
In regard to the other businesses Barry has or has had n the past, I don’t see what relevance that has to him being a trading educator ? Was he involved in anything illegal here?
Finally I would add that there are testaments to Barry’s teaching on both TrustPilot and ForexPeaceArmy. Generally-speaking I think these are 2 of the better sites for getting some honest feedback from students of trading courses. You of course will get some dissenters because the methodology is not simple to master, but I doubt you will find many saying it was a complete waste of their money.

I have not bought Barry Burns courses but i have been on his page and he offers a 90 day no questions asked money back guarantee , i dont think anyone anywhere offers that………If he was a true scammer why would he offer the guarantee. You have 3 months to evaluate the course or money back. Not one of these reply’s mentions this anywhere. Why didnt any of you here that have bought his material ever ask for your money back. In my opinion a real scammer would never offer a guarantee.
Initially I had mixed feelings about Dr. Barry Burns, but now have concluded that Dr. Burns makes many valid points. He’s been in the game for 50 years and has apparently made his livelihood trading the market. According to this post, many people are putting Dr. Barry Burns down. Why? To date, I don’t think he deserves such harsh criticism. Personally, I’ve found much of what he teaches to be valid and accurate. Thank you, Dr. Barry Burns. I’ve been trading full time since 2005.

I’ve attended many seminars, purchased many courses, and there have been a few that I would not recommend. Though it’s still early, so far, I’ve had nothing but good vibes in attending Barry Burns seminars, and he makes good sense. If we read between the lines, we can even learn from fools .I don’t know why people are knocking Barry Burns. There are many traders out there in which Barry Burns is one, and I don’t care what he sells, where he lives. All I know is that so far it’s been a pleasure attending his seminars, and he’s given me excellent food for thought.

These comments are amusing. I knew Barry Burns probably 15+ years ago when we were in the same classes and user groups in Orange County learning how to day trade futures. He had no more experience than I did as a rookie. But obviously he had better marketing skills than I did. He turned what we learned then into a business although everything we learned then is completely irrelevant to the markets today. If you follow Barry and are making money, I would say you are either lucky or you would probably be successful despite what materials you purchased from him. And if he is selling MLM programs, oils, etc., I would stay as far as possible from him.
I have known about tradingschools.org for a while. I don’t know why I did not refer to you before I purchased his Foundations Course 1 and 2 and Fibonacci Course for 295.00. I have 90 days for a full refund but I am finding his course with great information. I knew he didn’t talk about how successful his trading was but I think I am going to try this because so far I do see it working so far on live charts/
Just got through watching one of Top Dog”s trading videos. Some of it sounded logical and appealing.
But before I would take one more step forward to learn more about what “Dr. Barry Burns” offers / sells, I stopped myself and thought of you, Emmett.
Thankfully you had another solid, detailed and useful review. And as a result, I did not waste any more time.
Life is too short to squander our time chasing promises made by people who refuse to offer the PROOF that what they promises is real. Refusing to show a formal, verified trading track record tells it all. The fact that we even have to ask for “proof” is sickening. Every trader who “sells” his advice should always publish his verified trading success (or failure).

I can see how people could easily get seduced by Dr BB voice, he appeales to average guy who wants to make easy money but I would not spend a cent on his courses.
He has never claimed it to be easy money that I have seen.
Completely false….he actually emphasizes that trading is not a get rich quick thing. But rather, we should focus on minimizing risk by strictly adhering to the strategies he provides. He even states “that there may be trade-less days” and that we shouldn’t chase the market, but let it come to us. So i dont think you should make these bold statements if you have not gone through his content. However, i do understand other arguments such as his lack of trading records.

I beg to differ from most of the other comments about Barry Burns. I was enrolled in a couple of other trading schools before finding Top Dog Trading. All I can say is that his system really works for me and it was cheaper by 2/3 compared to the other school I was enrolled in, a quack school by the name of Cyber Trading University. I have been studying the courses of Top Dog for over four months now and it has taken me that long to master the concepts to the point where I can trade it without thinking. Cyber Trading University, by contrast, could have taught me everything in five hours, in other words, very little at all. For me, Top Dog Trading has taught me so much and most of all, has taught me to rely on myself, I just love the courses that Barry has made available to us at low cost, its a game and life changer, for me at least.
I can kind of agree with you Chris. He does have a trust worthy way about himself, but that doesn’t mean that it is true, but I can understand how his teachings can help me and I am starting to see it. Just starting so I hope it don’t change.
Yes, as a course to learn about trading and how to develop a strategy you can do worse than Top Dog. However, is Barry a trader or a salesman? Once he gets your email address you’ll find out that Barry is in the business of selling trading education products and not making money in the markets. I don’t have such a problem with that because he’s not making claims about making a fortune trading and front running his students through recommended trades.

Now using CTU-fakeboobs review as a smokescreen diversion, then most recently touting the topdog shamshow. Just look at BB’s yt video comments. His pretend shills make up the majority of yt profiles. Click on them and they mostly have nothing in the profile or a few “playlists” selections where BB pretends to be the new profile probably when he’s scouring the myriad new stuff of other shamshows on yt looking for trading related to copy & regurgitate. Sometimes those shilled yt profiles are used a year later saying the same “thank you Barry!” crap. pathetic.
Hello Chris Gentles, I agree with you in that Cyber Trading University was a total waste of time and money. Still being taught to entice beginners in using Level 2 and following the MM’s, a practice which has gone by the wayside over a decade ago. Cyber Trading founder is an expert salesman. Just started looking at Barry Burns, sorry to say, I have my doubts about him too, but I’ll give it a bit of time. All I say, after 15 years in the market, there are far too many scammers, but I’ve also found a few good ones as well.
Chris Gentles, for me it’s still too early to formulate any type of reasonable opinion on Barry Burns as I’ve just started looking at him. I do agree with you in your summation regarding Cyber Trading University. A TOTAL scam using trading principles that have been long buried for over a decade. AVOID CYBER TRADING UNIVERSITY at all costs. A total rip-off!

He offers some great inexpensive trading training on the Udemy site, supports his students with a weekly hangout to discuss the markets and our questions. The Udemy courses do require concentration, yet he is always available to clarify and assist.
How about a review here of the “real deal” like Doc Brown? He has shared his actual trading accounts with a group of us for years. He trains masters students for Wall Street as well as the rest of us on Main Street!

Son of a …. This was my second swindle that I purchased. I never got through any of the courses because in the first one (if I remember correctly) he talked about himself and how his life experience led to trading. There was too much talk and zero trading so I stopped and never continued the course. I still have the courses in my email. He would send out links to each course.
Yep, he never did trade. I went through his basic and sequel course then tried his five “energies” on sim. Basically it was just 4 lagging typical indicators and using a second chart as a higher time frame. All stuff which is free to find on the web. He did a few recorded webinars where he supposedly made trades and they were all scalp losers he called “scratches”. Looking back, it was a total sham and I felt embarrassed I was so clueless about these scams. He probably hasn’t had a live account for decades. Some of the best snake oilers “talk” about trading even fooling people into believing they are taking trades without actually doing it. He also tried to regurgitate a “price action” course. He had a preview outline and it turned out he was lazy enough that it looked like the content pages of Al Brook’s original book, lol. He had said he was “researching” price action and was going to be “done” soon i.e. probably reading and taking plagiarizing notes of Brook’s book. I think in the end he was called to cease and desist because his PA course mysteriously disappeared and wasn’t heard of again.
So here I was looking over this charlatan’s site, and I couldn’t believe there were still articles on the site back since 2008! when I had my confession that I got first fooled by this snake oil fraudster. Check out these articles and have a good laugh.

Absolutely, John Carter is one of those legacy “traders” who has built a tradeducaton affiliate empire now. I took his $67 “trial” room and all it was mostly bad option trades where the losing results were never reported. Other than that it was just an ad room for education products and recorded seminars costing hundreds to thousands more. Often John Carter wasn’t in the room and “fibqueen” Borodin was there. The room usually had 300 to up to 1500 members. In light of WarriorTrading’s room numbers, in hindsight I wonder how many were dummy fake generated members. I think the room was Carter’s “simpler options” or something like that. Another thing I got from the room, was even if they traded for themselves why would they bother teaching when they can still sell the dream through scam products. So the let some other scam vendor take over the room while they go on vacation or teach worthless methods that will lose one’s account quickly.
Another guy that has been around a long time is John Carter. Would be interested to see one of these on John Carter. I’ve never used his stuff before, but it seems like he has done a little of everything over the years.

Hey Emmet, where is the info leading to Barry Burns as the seller of “sunbright” and “sunset” HGH tonics? The site liquidhealthproducts seems to just refer to a couple named “Wayne and Gerri” of San Diego. Is this a fake couple and background invented by Burns or are they in cahoots with Barry? Just curious how you found the connection.
I would recommend to anyone who has purchased any products from any scam artists
to post their PDFs and videos, or Ebooks(basically all their garbage) all over around the web for free.,,,teach them a good lesson! let them get a taste of their own medicine.

Copyright laws do apply to scam artists. It is possible to embed information into course material that details who the course was sold to. That information can be stripped away if you have the knowledge and software but it can also be used to show the vendor who is breaking copyright by sharing their product. It’s unlikely that Barry has done this with his course but it’s a possibility. IMO, it’s better to spread the word about scam artists and direct people considering their product back to these pages than to get down in the mud with them.

Arch, I open admit that I was fooled in the past and I will even say I still get fooled. Even though I day trade my method, I am always looking for new ideas especially if it will bring me diversification. I still check out various trading rooms / trade services. These days I pick ones that at least claim they are trading live and showing their brokerage statement. So far everyone of those I have tried has been a scam. They are all a combination of inaccurately recording their results, making calls after the entry or the stop loss is reached, not showing slippage even when the bid and ask is 20 cents, 40 cents or even higher, non stop shills claiming to make money every single day no matter what the market condition is and constantly selling repackaged education crap that is widely available for free. I seriously doubt there is a truly honest day trading room or service out there. So until I find that room I have to stick with my equity curve which is a roller coaster ride, as opposed to that straight up curve the rooms show, and my measly returns. The one difference is I would never pay for their education package unless they can “Truly” show they can trade better than I do. I am still looking. In fact I am trying one now that brags about their live trading and how they show brokerage statements. Yet the only long term students in the trading room are the shills. From what I have seen so far the place is a complete scam. If Emmett would allow members to start their own thread I would start a thread on some I have tried and show the actual facts about their real trades as opposed to the advertised stuff they claim.
Finally, Arch, I try and tell people do not be the “FOOL” After reading these review and you still invest then you get what you deserve. I just wished there had been some site telling the truth about these con artist trading rooms and their scam techniques and had warned me not to be the fool. It is not a comment to be taken personally but a warning!!!! Under no circumstance should anyone invest in a education package unless that trader:
1) Trades Live,
2) Show his DOM or Chart Trader,
3) Shows the entries and exist prior to the trade,
4) Post accurate results of this trades,
5) Shows his brokerage statements that he actually got the entries and exits he posts.
Now if they do all that and are even slightly profitable then that is a room that deserves 5 Stars. I have yet to find one. In fact I think Emmett should award a prize to any that actually can prove they do that.
I’ve honestly never found a “Trade Room” I would trust for actual trades. I certainly can’t think of any that meet your requirements. I’ve also never heard of a great number of the guys some people have wandered across. Like everyone else, I did know this guy. He got my phone number and called a lot and emailed non stop for awhile. High pressured sales pitches don’t work well on me, maybe the only reason I didn’t try Burns. I probably wasted $500 or so dollars on scams once upon a time though. I think everyone does somewhere along the way. I probably wasted $1,000 or so on having programmers make some things for me as well, but I can at least say that was part of my learning curve (not really, but it makes me feel better). It was still wasted on programmers, because all of it wasn’t needed. You can trade off what is provided for free from pretty much every broker. Sometimes I think you almost have to waste a couple hundred bucks on junk to get it out of your system.
The only guy I know that currently seems legit is an options guy. He doesn’t have a chat. His trades last awhile sometimes. They last hours at least pretty much every time, so he says what options he bought way before they win or lose. You would often have a ton of time to get his price or even a better price (he has a lot of draw downs before wins from what I’ve seen). Couple people told me they are up from following his lead. I haven’t had time to track back and put all the numbers together myself, yet. All his past trades are there. A lot of wins, quite a few multi-bagger big wins, and a lot that didn’t work out too. No chat or education, he just sends his trades and some general advice sometimes, and a couple people I’ve talked to get them through texts.
I honestly couldn’t do it I don’t think. I would likely lose patience with all the questions and seek my peace and quiet again. Every time I see one of those webinars or chats, it seems the same stupid questions get asked over and over and over and over…..
Joe Trader is the only one I have met who is really a profitable trader.

I wanted to add one more thing. Prior to Emmett I would go to these Trading Rooms and see the same scam techniques I mentioned above being used again and again. Yet you go to a room like GTR and there are just shill after shill saying how they are hitting it out of the park day after day. And worst you search for a review about one of these scam trading rooms and again post after post how great the room is. And even worst than that you have con men like Dean Handley writing articles saying how you can make $50K a year with this his trading titans trading room. BTW I have met many traders that have gone to one of Dean’s trading titans and yet to met one that has not lost money. Sometimes I thought I might be insane as I seemed to be the only person to see the room as a complete smoke and mirrors. Even though I have disagreed with Emmett on some of this reviews as being too kind, I will say he is the only one that has started to uncover the mask of this industry riddled with con artist. I now realize I was not insane after all. This industry really is filled with nothing but the lowest life scums out there. There are even posters here who have ulterior motives and push the fantasy to sell their trading room or education. This industry brings new meaning to the term Caveat emptor.

Thanks for your story ElaineMD. Yes, some of those old “official” sounding trading vendor website organizations are hubs for disseminating emails or phone numbers to a web of affiliate scam vendors. Oldtimer affiliate hubs such as “moneyshow”, “DTI”, “OTA”, etc. And can’t get the name “John Ondercin” out of my head when skimming my spam email anymore for example. Then you have the newer generation of this decade like Syke’s plant review farm investimonials or rather should be called “investi-scamma” here. I eventually made up a “vendor reply email” which is still flooded with thousands of spam email from afflitiates which often doesn’t help, no matter I try to unsubscribe as using the linked unsubscribe seems to just continue sending the email to other scam affiliates. I used it to “trial” sites. But now free email sites such as yahoo and gmail don’t allow signing up for email without asking for personal information anymore. Right, don’t give a real phone number if you’re just trialing as they keep calling back with salesman saying a room or mentor is teaching how to make 200% as the phone number just keeps being handed around to affiliates, or skip sites that ask for a phone number on sign up in the first place. Also often avoid those sites that have a popup offering something free with an email signup.

Boy oh boy. My confession time too. Similar to RobB, topdog was my first trading vendor who swindled me. I too bought the advanced course after the basic. I tried all the “five energies”/(actually common lagging indicators and typical timeframe watching) and watched his method fail to work right off the bat. I watched his videos as he scrolled back and forth with after the fact comments. On occasion he had “live trading” videos and he habitually said “scratch” for the losers, where he had no winners on the right edge of the chart. Sure, Ross of Warrior Trading and his group beat out topdog in terms of new tech and sophistication in their sim trading scam, but the “Dr.” beats them on his top “harmless” demeanor and reputation. I had a room host who admitted to buying the scam also, commented his high nasal voice sounded like “Dahcter. Buuarrry Burrrns!” with a clothesline pin blocking the nose, lol. It’s all been exposed on forexpeacearmy, elite and other forums over the years about his MLM and hypno doc “degree” but they always get covered up by his fake id reviews and plants and “testimonials” as time goes on. Then new newbies desperate to get started in trading especially with the current collapsing economies easily fall prey to topdog’s enticing price point package. Right, he’s been a plagiarizer and reseller of other trading ideas and authors. One time he advertised he was coming up with a price action course. He showed a preview of the contents and it looked almost exactly similar to Dr. Al Brooks’ first published book on price action. He said he was still working on it where no doubt he was trying to read through and take plagiarizing notes on Brook’s difficult to read expository prose that all Brook’s readers know what I’m talking about. It didn’t come out, no doubt someone got word to Brooks and action was taken that caused the new course to cease and desist. Planted posters still have the gall to recommend topdog on trading forums as recent as this year. Sometimes even a fake “newbie” member will try to bring up topdog again asking about it to get attention on beginner threads. Emmett, you got me there in that I had no idea he had so many other sites and I had thought his MLM was history. Good job to find out it’s very much alive with all the real snake oil potions. With this review now he will have the “topdog” reputation as the most curmudgeonly modern real-life snake oil trading vendor for everyone to amused and marvel at. Kuvelas of oiltradingacademy can’t touch the insidious wonder and longevity of topdog but he still plagiarizes CoastToCoast am and conspiracy blogs ranting for attention. Brilliant marketer with the “Dr” moniker (that is so smart to do this to establish credibility) to the price of his repackaged common junk found anywhere and finally, the price point. Guys like this, the internet marketing scammers, know exactly what they are doing with the price point, where you can make a few videos that last a few hours so as to appear to have some value, and sell it over and over and over again for a few hundred bucks. Get 100 sales a month or more, you are living really nice. On top of that he has this snake oil crap and appeals to MLM people who are always looking for some magic pill to make money… Finally, his folksy understated manner… The fake reviews…. Man oh man does this review hit home. When I first started to day trade a long time ago, Top Dog was the 1st education package I paid money for. Actually if you consider joining Big Mike an educational package, Top Dog was my 2nd. I had forgotten all about good old Barry, one of the first vendors to con me. Gosh Emmett, this review brings up repressed memories.
Why did I buy it? Well I was clueless and one of those fools and it was cheap compared to other trading education out there and it had good review. Heck I just checked and it still has a 4.5 start review on Forex Peace Army. Of course I now I realize vendor reviews are 99% faked reviews by the vendor and his friends. I became an expert on divergence and could spot one from a million miles away
This is a perfect example of a vendor taking what is available for free out there, repackaging and selling it, even though he could not trade it profitable if his life depended on it.
The worst part is after you join he then relentless emails you trying to sell one product after the next. And some of his emails made it seem like he was personally teaching how to trade live. I emailed him and they were other vendor’s products he was selling. I kept asking him when he would actually have a class teaching his trading method live and he never did. Even as a young-ling I became suspicious why he never would show he could profitable trade his own method live.
The funny thing is out of all the scam artist out there this guy is not even on my hate list. Yes he is a con artist like 99.9% of the other day trading vendors out there, but his education was relatively cheap and even though I do not use divergence as I said I can spot one from a million miles away and can talk about them to someone if I needed to. And no that is not a recommendation to buy his course.

True confessions time. I purchased Barry’s foundations 1 & 2 package and his swing trade course. I got the bundle for $499. Here’s how I look at Barry. If I could swindle 5 nice old couples out of their life savings, say $200,000 per couple and get away with it, I wouldn’t do it because it would destroy the lives of 10 people. But if I could con 100,000 people out of $10 each there’s a pretty good chance that I would do that, because what’s $10? Not the end of the world, that’s for sure. Barry’s in the second class of con men. He’s happy to take a little nibble from a lot of people and at least he has packaged the information together into an organized course and it was a place to start. Not a recommendation from me either. I recommend going to a library or a book store.

I had a similar path so my “confession” time too. Clothespin pinched nose-voice “dr.” of hypnosis barry buurns was the first vendor I got duped for the same 1&2 package & swing course. He would lamely do an occasional “live” webinar and never made a winner where he would just say it was a “scratch”. But like the review and older comments mentioned, topdog was just one of his scams where he also had other “business streams” such as the mlm, hypnosis, etc. i.e. Ms.Roussos and her ice cream truck although I think Barry should run his own hotdog stand on his vacant plaza business address. Agreed that he crammed intro material really worth only $10 if that for introducing material for a newb, and better to find for free on the various trading sites and forums on the web.

If you are asking me, I do not use anything I learned from Top Dog in my trading. Even though I am more focused on Real Estate currently as we are back in a mini bubble in my area, when I trades I have gone back to the way real traders trade, not the fantasy nonsense taught by trading rooms. So first you have to accept all the stuff they teach is complete nonsense. I wish it worked, but it does not. Which means no micro scalping CL with a $500 account.
Without writing a book the way I trade is one of 2 ways:
1) Stop and Think – Just stop and think and look what is going on. Many times nothing is going on. Who will benefit. I think a great opportunity for this was when Trump was elected. It was clear he would undue many of Obama policy so just stop and think who would benefit and who would not. Look a the current trend towards online shopping with Macys and others getting killed. Do you think this trend is for real or a fad. I think it is real and see a day when it will be common place to get drone deliveries. I hate to find parking and waiting in line. So think who will benefit.
2) Technical Trading – I do not follow a specific method, but the closes I come is Wyckoff. In my opinion if there is no trend then you are just trading white noise.
But the biggest thing is not method but waking up to reality of trading. The ideas of making insane ROI and no draw downs and etc are just that insane. If you look at the richest men in the world like Warren Buffet he did not make his money day trading. He bought great companies when they went on sale. And yes he has had huge losses during periods of time. That is how trading or investing works. The rest is just nonsense that sounds soooo good.
“Dr.” BB is still around guys, except he seems desperate for more churned income of newbs. The course I and II are now no longer individually $297, but each $496 or $497 with the advanced course for $499. There are also a fib course for $96(worthless intro) and $497 so his way of trying to charge $600 without looking like it lol. Also the Al Brooks plagiarized course from the book which seems to be linked to email newsletter only people so far. (or not) And a worthless set of ninja indicator for $350/month probably ripped off from bigmike’s in the past. Frankly, I could have coded or modded many of them myself looking at their descriptions. Rightline trading plastic multilator/pill pusher/fake Wharton quackerdoc also looks like he ripped off bmt indicators and made his own versions for sale/rent. So the lazyass BB finally hired a webber to update his website. Now expects new dupes to pay $250 more each for course I or II, lol. He’s not the only one, a lot of these shamshows already reviewed here since 2016, 2017 have almost doubled their indicators and hotdog package prices if one looks at their current sites. I bet TradersHELP!desk Gail Mercer has tripled her prices by now. She slightly lowered them when the spotlight was on her. Then half a year later, back to normal than later doubled prices, lol.
Barry Burns offers a 90 day money back guarantee , i dont know anyone else offering that. If your not happy after 90 days why didnt you all just ask for your money back…..???
